Meet the Founder- Georgie Hales

Hi I’m Georgie, founder of The Audition Mission!

My own journey into the industry started at a school, where I was certain that I wanted to pursue a career in musical theatre. When I was called in to see the careers adviser, I confidently told her that I wanted to become a musical theatre performer. Her response? That it “wasn’t a real job” and that I should consider finding a “proper job” instead. I was encouraged towards courses in law — something I thankfully never pursued.

When it came to applying for drama school, I had very little guidance. I didn’t know what the process involved, how to approach my submissions, what schools were looking for or even what questions I should be asking. I relied heavily on friends who had already been through the process, picking up every nugget of advice and golden piece of wisdom I could.

And I remember thinking: it shouldn’t have to be this way.

Applying to drama school should be one of the most exciting times of your life. You should feel informed, prepared and supported — not like you’re trying to navigate the process on your own.

That’s where The Audition Mission was born.

Since graduating from Bird College, I’ve gone on to build a career as a professional performer, working across multiple productions including musicals, tours, pantomime and many other areas of the industry. I’ve experienced the auditions, the rehearsals, the highs, the challenges and the realities of working in this industry.

I created The Audition Mission because I want to give aspiring performers the support I wish I’d had. To share the knowledge I’ve gained, demystify the process and make sure that no student feels like they are trying to figure it all out alone.

Your talent deserves the opportunity to be seen. Your application deserves to be taken seriously. And you deserve to have someone in your corner.
